Arts Fest: CollegeIQ Sponsored Planking Contest

When you’re walking down College Ave. this Arts Fest weekend, do not be alarmed if you see people laying face down and not moving. They’re only pretending to be a piece of wood.

Planking, as in a plank of wood, has become a major phenomena the past few months across the world, and upstart CollegeIQ.com is taking advantage of it to promote their website to the Penn State community.

“We created a fun, interactive site for Penn State students, and to create awareness (for the site) we wanted to run a fun contest,” said Greg Robinson (@grob11), Lead Marketing Manager for CollegeIQ. “We figured since planking is all over social media, we would see what Penn State students could come up with.”

All you have to do is take a picture of your plank and tweet it to @College_IQ with the hashtag #IQplank, and you will be entered to win. The “most creative and unique” planks will win, according to the Facebook event.

Planks must be performed in the State College area and may be sent in beginning today through Sunday. In order to be eligible, you must have an account on CollegeIQ.com (it takes about 10 seconds to set one up) and be following @College_IQ on Twitter.

Three planks will be eligible to win, with the first two being selected by a panel of judges on Sunday night and announced on Monday. The top 10 remaining planks will be voted on from Monday through Wednesday at 7pm.

Prizes for the plank contest include gift cards to Campus Candy, Penn State basketball gear, and Penn State basketball season tickets.

Remember, plank responsibly!
