Penn State and Jerry Sandusky. For the foreseeable future, those two names will go hand in hand. The Sandusky story will lead every Penn State football game, questions about Joe Paterno's involvement will dominate every television broadcast, and this football season will forever be remembered for what happened off the field.
The biggest questions for the Penn State football team this week will be about distractions. Will the team be able to ignore the scandal? Should they ignore it? Will it be possible to focus wholly on the Nebraska game on Saturday when Paterno and Mike McQueary are directly involved with the situation?
I think the answers to all those questions is "yes."
In their only planned Pennsylvania stop for their 2012, alternative rockers Rise Against will play the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday, January 29, at 7 p.m.
It seems like it was just yesterday that the Committee Members were being announced. Now, we are less than 24 hours away from the 100 Days til THON marker, and the reality that THON Weekend is just around the bend sets in. As always, an action-packed afternoon at the HUB has been planned for us all to gather in excitement of the countdown, ending with a Silent Rave and aerial picture outside of Old Main.
Penn State is regarded as one of the nation’s finest academic intuitions, but when a crisis emerged; no one stepped up. No one did, well, anything. While the report is not easy to page through without nausea overtaking anyone who gets past the first couple of pages, what everyone gains by reading the report is simple: the ability to discuss the ever evolving allegations with a sense of knowledge and background, not rumor and myth.
The man who has the most to tell about the entire case surrounding Jerry Sandusky, who reportedly saw the crime take place, has remained silent thus far. That man is Mike McQueary, and it's time for him to come forward, tell the truth, and spare no detail.
