2013 Movin’ On Acts Released at THON

Movin’ On surprised all the dancers and the entire crowd packed into the Bryce Jordan Center tonight at THON by revealing the remaining acts who will be playing at Movin’ On 2013. The headliner, MGMT was revealed in December.

The following is the complete lineup for Movin’ On 2013, minus the winners of the Battle of the Bands:

  • Headliner: MGMT
  • Big Boi
  • Brand New
  • Gloriana
  • Kids These Days

The reaction was generally positive when MGMT was announced as the headliner, and the rest of the lineup has acts that cover a wide spectrum of genres.

Big Boi, known for his prolific career with Outkast, has released two critically acclaimed solo albums, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors in 2010 and 2012.

Brand New, a rock band who have been well known in the indie/emo scene through the 2000’s, haven’t released an album since 2009’s Daisy and have been working on a new album. They are known for tracks like “Sic Transit Gloria,” “The Quiet Things That No One Knows,” “Soco Amaretto Lime,” and “The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot.”

Gloriana is a country band from Nashville who broke onto the scene in 2008. They’ve released two albums, Gloriana and A Thousand Miles Left Behind to acclaim.

Finally, Kids These Days is a diverse band from Chicago that features elements of hip-hop, rock, blues, and jazz. Made up of seven kids fresh out of high school, they are sure to bring some youthful exuberance to the event. They released their debut album Traphouse Rock earlier this year.
