Update From Our Dancer: Hour 9

When we last checked in with Onward State staff writer Ali Fogarty, she was in awe of the 46-hour journey that she was about to embark on.

Fogarty, who is dancing through Association of Residence Hall Students (ARHS), is holding strong nine hours into THON. There have been a few challenges including sore feet and a sore back early on, but baby powder and a change of socks quickly took care of the problem.

The ultimate reward so far for Fogarty has been meeting Charles Millard back in the family hallway and taking a picture with him.

“It was real quick, but I wasn’t expecting it at all, and it was such an honor,” said Fogarty.

Aside from meeting the man who helped make THON possible, another big highlight has been learning the line dance on the floor. “I’ve always learned it before THON with my committees, and it was really awesome to be surprised,” Fogarty said.

As THON kicks into high gear, Fogarty is excited for the anticipated arrival of her family which is sure to boost spirits even more.

“I’m really excited for them to experience this and to see them,” she said.

Between talking with Millard and having family to look forward to, things are going well for Fogarty. Check back later as we continue to chronicle her journey to 46.
