Penn State to Face Michigan, Ohio State in Primetime

The first kickoff times for the 2013 season have been announced, and Penn State will twice appear in primetime.

The Big Ten has announced that the Homecoming matchup against Michigan is set for 5 p.m. on October 12. Either ESPN or ESPN2 will carry the game. This marks the third time in the last four home games that the Penn State-Michigan game will be in a primetime slot. The two programs will be meeting for the first time since 2010, a 41-31 win in Matt McGloin’s first start for the Nittany Lions.

It was also announced that Bill O’Brien’s first visit to Columbus, Ohio will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC at 8 p.m. when Penn State takes on Ohio State on October 26. This will be the fifth time since 2005 that the two teams will do battle in a night game. Penn State fell to the Buckeyes last year 35-23 to snap a 5-game winning streak, but the Nittany Lions have won two of their last three games in Ohio Stadium with victories in 2008 and 2011.

The kickoff times for other games will be announced closer to the start of the season. Despite night games being a fan favorite, this will be the third straight season that the Nittany Lions will not have an 8 p.m. home game in Beaver Stadium.
