Allen Robinson Named Semifinalist for Biletnikoff Award
Penn State’s star wide receiver Allen Robinson was named one of ten semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award earlier today.
This year, Robinson has hauled in 81 catches for 1,204 yards and six touchdowns. Robinson is currently fourth in the nation is receiving yards and ninth in receptions. The defending Big Ten Receiver of the Year was named to the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list earlier this season.
Robinson broke former Biletnikoff winner Bobby Engram’s single season school record for receiving yards during Penn State’s game against Minnesota. This past weekend against Purdue, he broke his own single-season receptions record. He also the second receiver in Penn State history to record back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons.
Fans can vote once a day to determine which three receivers will advance as finalists. Robinson already leads the fan poll with 33 percent of the vote, but you can still vote for him here.
The Biletnikoff Award is named after former Florida State All-American Fred Biletnikoff. Today, it is presented to the nation’s outstanding college football receiver by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. The award does have some Penn State ties, as Engram received the first ever Biletnikoff in 1994.
