Maggie Lucas Named USBWA All-American

Senior guard Maggie Lucas was named a USBWA All-American for the second straight season, joining Lady Lion great Kelly Mazzante as Penn Staters to earn the honor in consecutive years. While her collegiate career ended on Sunday, she will forever be remembered in the Penn State history books.

Lucas finished the season averaging 21.0 points, which was second in the Big Ten. She had 672 points this season, which was fifth in program history.

This season, she broke the Big Ten single-season free throw percentage record by shooting 94.9 from the charity stripe. She is the only player in NCAA women’s basketball, WNBA, or NBA history to average 20 or more points with a free throw percentage of 94.9 percent or better. Lucas also led the Big Ten in steals (7th) and three-pointers (6th).

Lucas finishes her career second in Penn State history and fourth in Big Ten history in career scoring with 2,510 points. She has the Big Ten and Penn State record with 365 career three-pointers, which is the 12th most in NCAA history. Lucas is the only player in Penn State history and the sixth player in the Big Ten to accumulate 2,000 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists, and 200 steals.

Lucas is also a finalist for the Wooden Award and the Senior CLASS Award, and she is a semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy.
