Three defendants in the alleged Penn State drug trafficking ring case have waived their September 2 preliminary hearings, Centre County President Judge Jonathan Grine announced on Wednesday.

Mohammed Huraibi, Thomas Robinson, and Robert Zanolla are among 13 former and current Penn State students charged in connection with a drug trafficking ring that allegedly operated out of the off-campus houses of Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi.

Both Robinson and Huraibi, as well as Lars Zeepvat, testified against the alleged ringleader of the drug operation, Agostino Abbatiello, on Wednesday. Zeepvat has previously waived his hearing.

Huraibi, a former member of Delta Upsilon, is facing four felony counts and two misdemeanors.

The felonies include one felony count of conspiracy to commit a corrupt organization, one count of conspiracy to manufacture, deliver or possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance, one count of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

The misdemeanors both involve possession of an illegal substance.

Robinson faces 21 felonies and 10 misdemeanors, including one felony count of conspiracy to commit a corrupt organization, one count of conspiracy to deliver drugs, and one first-degree felony count of dealing.

The charges originated from a State College Police Department investigation into an alleged drug trafficking ring tied to Penn State fraternity houses, specifically Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi. The investigation led to Robinson’s initial arrest in December 2024.

Prosecutors allege Robinson was a key supplier in the operation, one step below its alleged leader, Abbatiello. Robinson is also charged with criminal use of a communication facility for allegedly using his cellphone to arrange the drug deliveries.

Zanolla faces four charges, including a felony count for conspiracy to manufacture, deliver, or possess with intent to manufacture or deliver, a third-degree felony for criminal use of a communication facility, and two misdemeanors.

The offense date for all charges is July 1, 2023.
