Students Peacefully Celebrate In Beaver Canyon
Thousands of students flocked to Beaver Canyon tonight in celebration after rallying at Old Main and Beaver Stadium in elation from the removal of the NCAA’s bowl ban and lessening of the scholarship reductions.
“We consider this to be a peaceful crowd…as long as no extensive damage is done we have no problem with it,” Police Chief Tom King said. Later, he told WTAJ’s Ali Ingersoll that “the community needs something like this.”
As I type this, the celebration is still going on strong in Beaver Canyon. At no point has the celebration gotten out of hand — there have been a lot of We Are chants, Zombie Nations and cowbells with nothing nefairous. At one point, students calmly got out of the way for a Gumby’s delivery car that took a wrong turn. There’s sure to be some people who got carried away, but they’re in the vast, vast minority.

The rally in Beaver Canyon has grown immensely in size. Very similar to the Bin Laden rally. pic.twitter.com/64xIxL5E08 — Onward State (@OnwardState) September 9, 2014
