Norman Horn Finishes His Coast 2 Coast Journey FTK

Remember that awesome Penn State alum we’ve told you about time and time again who’s been walking across the country For The Kids? Great news — he finally finished his 3,100-mile journey on Oct. 11!

Starting in April in San Francisco and ending in Atlantic City, N.J., Norman Horn literally walked “Coast2Coast” to benefit THON, in hopes of raising funds and awareness, all FTK. As you can imagine, Horn feels on top of the world.

“The most rewarding part of the trek was most certainly my restored faith in humanity,” Horn said. “Based on the support I received from complete strangers, I was able to carry on and educate the masses in childhood cancer statistics.”

Not every part of his journey was easy, though. The constant changes in weather were drastically challenging each day for Horn, but he liked it that way. He pushed a jogging stroller that contained all of his gear during the trip, including water, food, camping supplies, first aid, shoes, and a journal.

“I needed that challenge. The ‘survival’ aspect of the journey heightened my level of dedication,” Horn said.

After all was said and done, Horn raised more than $43,000 in the fight against pediatric cancer, according to CBS, and his journey ended at a celebration in Atlantic City at the Golden Nugget. Horn said he learned a lot about himself, saw some really amazing places across the country, and met “the most genuine people in the world” in the past few months.

What’s next for Horn? Right now, he’s working on adjusting back to the life he knew before he left and misses the road immensely.

“I’m proud of my accomplishment and raised a lot of awareness for children. I’m ready for my next adventure,” he said.

Make sure you keep up with Norm and all of his new adventures. You never know where he might end up next!
