2015 Blue-White Game To Kick at 4 p.m.

Blue-White Weekend is no doubt one of the best weekends at Penn State, and this evening’s news makes that all the more true. James Franklin announced at The Signature Event in Rec Hall that the 2015 Blue-White Game will kick at 4 p.m. on April 18, a departure from its usual midday kickoff time.

Let’s be real — the Blue-White Game (and Spring Games in general) are nice in that they provide a glimpse of what next season will be like, but it’s basically a glorified scrimmage. The real reason everyone is so excited for Blue-White Weekend is the tailgating, warm weather, and return to Happy Valley. So, this news is so welcome for two primary reasons:

  • More tailgating time!
  • More drinking time!

Last year’s Blue-White Game, which kicked at 1:30, was the first in several years that wasn’t besmirched by rain, and the tailgating scene was on par with a normal September game. Of course, the later kick does present a moral conundrum for diehard fans who also happen to enjoy tailgating, since the extra four hours provide ample time to get in both tailgating and game attendance. But we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Good call on this one, Penn State Athletics.
