Saquon Barkley Named Big Ten Co-Freshman Of The Week

Freshman running back Saquon Barkley won the honor of Big Ten Co-Freshman of the week with his performance this Saturday against Buffalo. The shifty runner won the recognition after tearing up Buffalo’s defense for 115 yards and a score. He provided an important spark in a Penn State offense that struggled to get going at times. His energy was matched by fellow freshman Brandon Polk, who also scored in the contest.

Barkley won the award along with the Michigan State Spartan’s freshman running back L.J. Scott. Look for Barkley’s usage rate to go up immensely in the coming games after averaging 9.6 yards per carry and making ridiculous plays like this hurdle.

Watch Barkley run this Saturday when Penn State takes on Rutgers in its first ever “Stripe Out” at home. The game will kickoff at 8 p.m. and is sure to be a thriller.
