Onward Tastes: Cafe Wow

With the recent closure of State College’s beloved Tea Time, bubble tea lovers had very few options to choose from for their favorite milky tea. But never fear, bubble tea enthusiasts: Cafe Wow is the answer to all your problems. Located on East College Avenue (right by Urban Outfitters), Cafe Wow adds more depth to State College’s vast array of Asian delicacies. What sets Cafe Wow apart from the rest is it’s focus on quick snacks and desserts along with their  milk teas and smoothies.

We decided to send a staff member to see how this new restaurant stacked up against the rest.

Once you enter the restaurant, you’ll notice how cozy it feels inside with the sweet aroma of dessert and bubble tea wafting through the air. There was even plenty of seats to choose from along with (gasp) FREE wifi! So studious, bubble tea lovers can rejoice as they can study in the comfort of Cafe Wow. After ordering, I took some time to appreciate the atmosphere.

These cool anime figurines along with the Cafe Wow swag really give the restaurant some character.

SMB_CafeWoW-6SMB_CafeWoW-11I received my order in just a few short minutes. I opted for the mango smoothie this time around, just because my two friends had gotten the bubble tea and I wanted to see how their healthy options were. Upon the first sip, I noticed that it actually tasted like a fresh mango, packed with flavor. Fresh ingredients go a long way and it’s safe to say that Cafe Wow pays attention to the finer details of tea and smoothie making. My two friends also expressed their appreciation of their flavorful bubble tea, as it’s something that is lacking in other bubble tea places around the area (I’m looking at you Panda Express!)

Overall I’d say that Cafe Wow definitely lives up to it’s name (Bad jokes I know). It’s a place that you can go to for a nice refreshing drink or even a nice date spot for dessert. Watch out, Kung Fu Tea. Cafe Wow is in town.
