Student Group Looks To Bring ‘Sex Week’ To Penn State

Open the Box, a student org focused on helping resolve gender equality issues, really likes sex. So much so, that it is looking to raise money on Kickstarter to bring Sex Week to campus, a week full of “talks and discussions on virginity and abstinence in college, sexualities and transgenderism, pornography, sexual assault, STIs, and much more,” according to the Kickstarter. The group looks to have Sex Week some time in April.

The group aims to raise $1,000 by February 21, and has already raised $685 with just eight backers. While the rewards for donating are nothing extreme, for $100 you can get a shirt that says “Sex Week” on it, so you can show everyone at Penn State how much you love sex. A $250 donation makes you an official Sex Week sponsor, and gets your name on, as the description puts it, “everything” as a sponsor, plus the shirt. If those two are out of your budget, just $20 gets you a nice thank you post card from Open the Box. The post card also comes with the $100 and $250 donation package.

The money that Open the Box raises will go toward paying for speakers that will be experts in the subjects they will speak about. The Kickstarter says that the events will try not to “sell” any options, but to inform students of all the options they have at the university.

Mike Reisman

is a senior Supply Chain Management major with an Economics minor (Read: Business Douche) from South Jersey. He has an intense fear of graduating so please don't bring it up. He writes about stupid things nobody cares about, and student life if the site is low on content that is clearly supposed be funny but is really very unfunny. He is lovingly (?) known around the staff as Baby Mike which may or may not be because he has a child (hint: it’s not). He’s also a second generation Penn Stater who has been wearing Penn State sweatshirts since before he was two, a habit he hasn’t grown out of.
