Women’s Soccer Will Host Bucknell To Start NCAA Tournament

Erica Dambach’s Nittany Lions convened at Lettermans Monday afternoon to discover their opening-round opponent in the NCAA Tournament.

The defending national champs will host nearby Bucknell (16-1-2) at Jeffrey Field this Friday at 6:00 p.m. The Bison captured the Patriot League on the heels of an 8-1 conference record and a 2-1 overtime victory over Boston University in the Tournament Championship.

Penn State clinched a share of its 18th Big Ten regular-season title with a 2-0 win over Ohio State in the final match before postseason play. The No. 2 seed Nittany Lions fell to No. 7 Rutgers 2-0 at Jeffrey Field in the Big Ten Tournament opener. Seven other Big Ten schools made the tournament.

The Nittany Lions claimed their first national title in program history thanks to an unreal 20-0 goal differential in a 2015 NCAA Tournament run that culminated in a 1-0 win over Duke. Nittany Lion great Rocky Rodríguez provided the late program-defining goal in Cary, N.C. The 2016 College Cup will take place in San Jose, Calif.
