David Goodwin First Penn State Iceman To Notch 100 Points

It’s official: No. 12 Penn State hockey captain David Goodwin is the first Nittany Lion to reach the 100 point milestone.

He had 97 before Penn State’s series sweep of Niagara last weekend. He notched one assist on Friday, then got to 99 points with his first goal of the season on Saturday. An assist in tonight’s match up with Alaska Anchorage got him into the century club.

The forward was already Penn State’s all-time leading scorer — he broke Casey Bailey’s 80-point record last February. Before tonight, he tallied seven assists and no goals on the season, and coach Guy Gadowsky attributes this to the leadership style the captain embodies. Goodwin is one always willing to shuffle it towards the net so a teammate can get a shot off a rebound.

Goodwin also holds Penn State’s all-time accolades for assists. He’s currently riding on a five-game point streak.
