Lady Lions Defeated By Drexel 83-60

Penn State (0-1) opened its season on the road against Drexel Friday night. The Dragons (1-0) finished last season with a 19-14 record and started this season on the right foot with an 83-60 win over the Lady Lions.

How It Happened

Penn State had some control in a low-scoring first quarter. Sierra Moore scored four of the Lady Lions 15 points, all on the mid-quarter 7-0 run, to push them into a 15-11 lead at the end of the quarter.

Drexel fought back in the second quarter despite a couple runs from the Lady Lions. Jessica Pellechio played a huge role in the Dragons surge with a pair of threes. Drexel went into halftime with a 36-32 lead.

Penn State hung in there with the Dragons after halftime. Seniors Kaliyah Mitchell and Moore combined for 12 of Penn State’s 21 points in the quarter. The Dragons went toe-to-toe with Penn State, heading into the fourth quarter with a 59-53 lead.

Drexel took over in the fourth quarter. Pellechio knocked down four three pointers as the Dragons put up 24 points in the quarter and dominated. The Lady Lions were held to seven points in the final quarter as they lost 83-60.
