New York Jets To Donate Portion Of Ticket Proceeds To THON

The New York Jets will donate a portion of ticket proceeds from their December 17 game against the Miami Dolphins to THON. The organization announced the promotion Thursday via Twitter.

Although THON has never partnered with the New York Jets before, this seems like a fitting first year to start since former Penn State starting quarterback Christian Hackenberg was drafted to the Jets last spring.

“The Jets actually reached out to us several weeks ago offering the opportunity,” THON Public Relations Director Sam Sherlock said. “We thought it was a great way to engage alumni and supporters into the NY area!”

Sherlock said $10 of each $65 ticket will be credited to THON, but there won’t be any other activities promoting THON during the game. Hackenberg signed a $4.66 million contract with the Jets, so it’s only fair the franchise gives some of its fortune back to THON.

This isn’t THON’s first foray into partnerships with professional sports teams, as the organization recently announced a fundraiser with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Nationals baseball teams a with THON to host annual fundraising games.
