Sandy Barbour Awards Guy Gadowsky With ‘Amended’ Contract
Penn State hockey’s recent breakout season resulted in a Big Ten Championship, an NCAA Tournament berth, and now an updated contract for head coach Guy Gadowksy. Although she didn’t elaborate much on the new terms of Gadowsky’s contract, athletic director Sandy Barbour told StateCollege.com on Tuesday that it has been “amended.”
When Gadowsky was hired, Penn State did not disclose any details regarding his original contract. Earlier in the year, the athletic department also declined to release his contract when contacted for an article about how it operates as a self-funded entity.
Just five years after the team moved to the Division I level under Gadowsky’s tutelage, Penn State was 25-12-2 and knocked off Union 10-3 in the first round of the program’s first NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national champion Denver 6-3.
The news regarding Gadowsky’s likely extension and raise comes a day after Barbour told the media that a new contract for head football coach James Franklin is currently in the works.
