Five-Star Quarterback Justin Fields Decommits From Penn State

James Franklin and company just lost the top-rated commit in their 2018 recruiting class. Justin Fields took to Twitter to announce his decision to decommit from Penn State on Tuesday night. Fields is the No. 1 ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country according to 247 Sports.

Fields is the second five-star recruit from the class of 2018 to decommit from the Nittany Lions, joiningΒ Harrisburg native Micah Parsons. Fields’ decommitment drops the Nittany Lions from the No. 2 to the No. 5 recruiting class for the class of 2018, according to 247 Sports.

The Georgia native is now projected to commit to the Florida Gators. In fact, a recent Twitter feud between Florida commit Iverson Clement and five-star Penn State commit Ricky Slade foreshadowed some potential shakiness in Fields’ commitment.

Unfortunately for the Nittany Lions, Iverson Clement may have had some reason for his confidence. A few Penn State commits reacted quickly to the news of Fields’ decision.

Fields says Penn State is still among the top schools that he is interested in, but all signs point towards Florida.
