Holocaust Survivor Inge Auerbacher To Speak At Penn State

Holocaust survivor and author of the book I am a Star: Child of the Holocaust Inge Auerbacher will tell her story in Eisenhower Auditorium on April 2. The free event, sponsored by the Center for Spiritual and Ethnic Development and Penn State Hillel, will begin at 7 p.m.

I am a Star is the first of three autobiographical narratives detailing Auerbacher’s life during and after the Holocaust. Born to a Jewish family in Kippenheim, Germany, she spent ages 7-10 in the Terezín concentration camp in what was then Czechoslovakia, where approximately one percent of the 15,000 children detained survived.

After Auerbacher and her parents were liberated in 1945, they immigrated to America, where she finished high school and pursued a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She has been lecturing on the Holocaust since 1981, and is the recipient of many human rights awards including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Tickets for the event are available beginning March 19 at the Eisenhower Auditorium box office, the Bryce Jordan Center, and the Downtown Theatre Centret. You can find more information on the lecture here.
