SPA To Present Comedy Show Featuring Ron Funches, Brent Morin

Penn State’s Student Programming Association (SPA) will present a comedy show at 10 p.m. Friday, March 16 in Alumni Hall. Ron Funches and Brent Morin will perform with special guest Thomas Dale.

“You just want to hug and squeeze him like a big stuffed bear,” SPA wrote about Funches in its release. He’s best known for his role as Ron in NBC’s “Powerless” and has also starred in NBC’s “Undateable.” Funches counts recurring roles for Comedy Central in “@Midnight,” “The Kroll Show,” and “Drunk History,” as well as on ABC’s “Blackish” and more.

Morin is based in Los Angeles and known for his role as Justin Kearney in “Undateable.” He also has a stand up special currently streaming on Netflix. Morin was named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch” in 2013 and has appeared on “Chelsea Lately,” “Conan,” “Brooklyn 99,” “The McCarthys,” and “Ground Floor.”

Special guest Thomas Dale is “unlike any comedian you’ve ever seen before” according to SPA’s release. “His honesty and constant quest for truth and ‘realness’ makes for an unforgettable experience and a night of laughter.” Dale has been a regular on E!’s “Chelsea Lately” and has also appeared on “Adam Devine’s House Party,” “The Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” and HBO’s “Funny as Hell.”

For the past few years, SPA has billed April as its “Comedy Month” and the organization is working on planning another comedy event for then, according to Outreach Marketing Chair Nick Esposito. As with all SPA events, the show is free for all University Park students with a valid Penn State ID.
