Apke, Haley, Barkley Reunite Following Redskins-Giants Game

Sunday’s NFL matchup between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants was filled with familiar Penn State faces.

Troy Apke, a defensive back on the Redskins, was able to swap jerseys with Grant Haley, who recently made his NFL debut with the Giants after being promoted to the active roster last week.

Haley finished with four tackles, while Apke didn’t record any statistics in the game, a 20-13 Redskins win. Both players joined their respective teams this spring when Apke was selected in the fourth round by the Redskins and Haley signed with the Giants as an un-drafted free agent.

Worth noting, after the game, Apke was placed on the injured reserve by Washington head coach Jay Gruden due to a recurring hamstring issue.

On the other side of the ball. Haley’s teammate Saquon Barkley had another impressive day. The running back racked up more than 110 total yards in the Giants’ loss. Following the game, Barkley met up with seven-time pro-bowler Adrian Peterson, who many scouts compared him to heading into the draft this spring. The veteran running back had high praise for the rookie.

While Apke and Haley haven’t yet exploded onto the NFL scene like Barkley, their accomplishments at Penn State could never be forgotten. Who could forget Haley’s unbelievable touchdown against Ohio State?
