[Photo Story] Allen Street Jam Brightens Cloudy Homecoming Monday
Although Gryffin jumpstarted Homecoming Week this Saturday with his performance at Alumni Hall, Allen Street Jam marked the beginning of the more “traditional” homecoming events you can expect to see throughout this week.
Most of the “jam” portion of Allen Street Jam was thanks to live performances from bands such as “Livewire,” who covered classic songs like “Come Together” and “I Feel the Earth Move”
A big emphasis by Homecoming before Allen Street Jam was to bring people together from all over the community. Families, students, and representatives from local businesses were all welcome.
Allen Street Jam deemed itself a “mini festival,” bringing together food trucks, games, and free food. Allen Street was flooded with things to do.
The two “main” events were the introduction of the Homecoming court and the annual dance competition between local dance troupes. Among the Homecoming court members honored was Megan Reese, who smiled to the crowd while being recognized for her accomplishments with THON.
Lastly, what Penn State event is complete without the classic custom street sign maker? Everyone was lined up to make sure they got a custom street sign for their dorm room or apartment.
Even two-time NBA finals MVP Kawhi Leonard made an appearance!
