Penn State Reports Additional Student Coronavirus Case

Another Penn State student has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to an update to the university’s COVID-19 Dashboard Thursday night.

Penn State has tested 520 students for the virus since August 7, according to the dashboard. The reporting tool hasn’t been updated with additional tests since August 21.

Last week, 190 tests remained pending, but that mark has now fallen to 129 tests. It’s likely the new positive came from a formerly pending test result.

One student is currently in isolation, according to the university.

To date, Penn State’s dashboard has reported three positive cases dating back to August 7. Additionally, Penn State reported nearly 150 students had tested positive through pre-arrival coronavirus testing, which isn’t factored into the dashboard.

Penn State is expected to formally update its COVID-19 Dashboard Friday with new statistics reflecting the most recent week of testing. The updated statistics should include information from the university’s first week of random surveillance testing.
