Four-Star Offensive Tackle Drew Shelton Commits To Penn State

Penn State football’s recruiting class of 2022 is still growing, folks.

The Nittany Lions brought in their fifth prospect to the class with Downingtown offensive lineman Drew Shelton Friday. The Pennsylvania native announced his commitment via Twitter.

Shelton is the second in-state prospect to join Penn State’s class of 2022. He’ll now join forces with three-star York quarterback Beau Pribula, who committed to James Franklin’s program in early August.

The 6’5″, 255-pound offensive tackle is ranked as a four-star recruit on 247Sports. He’s also considered the 13th-best offensive tackle in the entire recruiting class and the fourth-best player coming out of Pennsylvania. Shelton’s received 21 offers so far, including looks from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Big Ten powers Michigan and Minnesota.

Shelton is also considered the 130th-best player in the nation according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, which makes him the top player to join this Nittany Lion class so far.

Penn State now has some serious offensive line talent developing in its 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes. While Shelton is the first hog molly to join this class, the Nittany Lions have Landon Tengwall and Nate Bruce waiting in the wings in the year ahead. Penn State is also firmly in the mix to earn a commitment from superstar offensive lineman Nolan Rucci, who hails from Lititz, Pennsylvania.

As for what Shelton can bring to Happy Valley once he arrives in fall 2022, check out his highlights from his sophomore year at Downingtown West High School here.
