Podward State: Season 3, Episode 7

On this week’s episode of Podward State, hosts Matt Ogden, Matt Paolizzi, and Sam Brungo landed an interview with 2018 Candidate for Pennsylvania State Senate Ezra Nanes and Centre County Jury Commissioner Laura Shadle.

The political energy kept rolling after last week’s episode with photographer Oyoma Asinor. Nanes and Shadle have been involved with getting the vote out in the Centre County area and break down how to make sure your voice is heard come November 3.

From getting set with your mail-in ballot to what voting in person might look like on and off campus, we get into everything you need to know. With the voter registration deadline in Pennsylvania falling on October 19, it’s important to get your voting plan settled as soon as possible so you can participate in the democratic process on Election Day.

Shadle and Nanes described how crucial Pennsylvania is in the presidential race as a newly minted swing state, how important college students are to the political process, and how Centre County has responded to the massive voting efforts sweeping the country.

If you want all the must-know Centre County and Penn State student voting information in one place, mosey on down to this Google Doc courtesy of Shadle and centrecountyvotes.com.

About the Author

Matt Paolizzi

Since graduating from Penn State in 2021, Matt is (hopefully) manning a successful job and (hopefully) living a happy life by now. In a past life, he was a writer for Onward State and remains a proud alumnus of the best student publication in the country. Check out Podward State too, Onward State's official podcast, that he co-founded alongside Matt Ogden and Mitch Stewart in 2019. It's his baby, give it a wave and make sure it's doing okay. Thanks to da king Sam Brungo and everyone who follows, it most definitely is.
