Penn State WORDS To Host ‘Spooky Slam’ Poetry Event October 30

Penn State Writers Organized To Represent Diverse Stories (WORDS) will host a virtual “Spooky Slam” poetry competition to kick off Halloween festivities on Friday, October 30.

The event will kick off at 7 p.m. on WORDS’ Instagram Live story.

Leading up to its poetry competition, WORDS has been putting on writing workshops. During these sessions, the club has given out tips and tricks to cure writer’s block, provide helpful poetry pointers, and even give a guide for writing a poem to that special someone.

WORDS welcomes anyone who wishes to improve their poetry to join in on the fun. You can enter the spine-chilling competition through this link.

Because of its time of year, those attending the Spooky Slam event to dress up in creative Halloween attire. Those who snap a picture of their outfit have the chance to be featured on WORDS’ Instagram story.

After the competition, contestants will get the chance to enjoy a virtual movie night.
