Jahan Dotson Named Big Ten Special Teams Player Of The Week
Penn State football wide receiver Jahan Dotson has been named Big Ten Special Teams player of the week, the conference announced Monday.
The honor comes after Dotson had an 81-yard punt return in the fourth quarter of the Nittany Lions’ 39-24 win against Michigan State. It was Penn State’s first special teams touchdown since Deandre Tompkins returned a punt for a touchdown versus Pitt in 2018.
Dotson also had eight catches for 108 yards, becoming the third Big Ten player since 2000 to have a punt return and over 100 yards receiving in a game.
It’s the third straight week a Nittany Lion has won a player of the week award. Running back Keyvon Lee was named Big Ten freshmen of the week after a monster performance versus Michigan and Joey Porter Jr. won the same award for his performance against Rutgers.
Dotson is enjoying the best season of his collegiate career for Penn State this year. He has 46 receptions for 695 yards and six touchdowns. Dotson leads the Big Ten in receiving yards and is tied third for receiving touchdowns.
Dotson and Penn State will try to close out the season on a four-game win streak on Saturday, when Illinois comes to town as a part of Big Ten “Champions Week”. That game will take place at 5:30 p.m. and be broadcasted on FS1.
