Report: Former Penn State Safety Trent Gordon Transfers To Arkansas

Former Penn State football safety Trent Gordon has found a new home, according to a report by 247Sports’ Danny West.

According to the report, the safety from Spring, Texas has transferred to Arkansas.

After appearing in just three games as a redshirt sophomore this fall, Gordon entered the transfer portal this past November. He came to Happy Valley as a cornerback as part of the 2018 recruiting class, but made the move to safety this past offseason.

Most recently, Gordon was listed as the third safety on the depth chart behind Lamont Wade and Ji’Ayir Brown.

Gordon didn’t record any stats in the three games he suited up for in 2020, but leaves Happy Valley with 21 total tackles, including one for a loss. He recorded 13 over the course of the 2019 season, including a career-high five in a win over Memphis in the Cotton Bowl Classic.

Moving forward, Penn State may have holes to fill at safety if Jaquan Brisker and Wade elect to move on from their Nittany Lion careers. Brown and Jonathan Sutherland both have years left in Happy Valley, however, and are both currently listed as second-string safeties.
