Penn State Fans Both Pumped & Shocked Following Kirk Ciarrocca’s Departure

Penn State football sent shockwaves through its fanbase Friday morning by announced it’s hired Texas offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich to fill the same role in Happy Valley.

Yurcich will succeed Kirk Ciarrocca, who spent just one season with the Nittany Lions out of Minnesota. The former Longhorns coach leads FBS coordinators with 6.49 yards per play since 2013 and led his teams to post nearly 62 touchdowns per season over his career.

Naturally, Penn State fans were stoked by the hire. They took to Twitter to celebrate the signing.

While Penn State fans were pumped by the hire, a good bunch questioned the timing of Ciarrocca’s departure, especially considering obstacles he faced in his first Penn State season.
