Nine Penn State Wrestlers Receive Preseason InterMat Rankings

Although its season hasn’t officially started just yet, Penn State wrestling’s preseason hype continued to grow Tuesday when nine of its wrestlers received preseason rankings from InterMat.

Although no Nittany Lion received any No. 1 rankings, senior Nick Lee came in at No. 2 at 141 lbs.

Junior Roman Bravo-Young, and sophomore Aaron Brooks took the third-ranked spots in the 133-lbs. and 184-lbs. weight classes, respectively.

Penn State freshmen showed out on the list as well. Carter Starocci is the fifth-ranked wrestler at 174 lbs., while Joe Lee and Greg Kerkvilet are ranked sixth in their weight classes.

Jarod Verkleeren, Brady Berge, and Michael Beard rounded out the rest of the ranked Nittany Lions, coming in at No. 10, No. 11, and No. 13 in their respective weight classes.

Penn State wrestling’s season will start on Saturday, January 16 with a trip to Rutgers to take on the Scarlet Knights.
