Freshmen Now Eligible For Spring Semester Parking With Pre-Approval

Penn State freshmen can now apply for an exception to park their vehicles on campus during the spring semester, the university announced last week.

Due to the decreased demand for parking amid the coronavirus pandemic and remote learning, the university is offering an exception to the freshman parking restriction.

Freshmen who live off-campus or commute have automatic approval for purchasing a parking pass, according to Penn State.

To be considered for a parking space, a student’s parent or guardian must submit a notarized letter by email to [email protected]. The letter must include the student’s name, Penn State ID number and email address, the reason why student parking is needed, and the date range the parking space is needed for.

Additionally, the letter must include a parent signature accompanied by a witness seal from a notary public.

Students who apply will be notified by email if they are approved for a parking space. If accepted, students in need of a parking space for the entire semester can purchase a pass online. If the space is needed for a shorter amount of time, a parking pass can be purchased at the Transportation Services Office at Eisenhower Parking Deck.
