Report: Penn State Football’s TJ Jones Enters Transfer Portal
Penn State football wide receiver TJ Jones is headed to the NCAA’s transfer portal, according to a report by 247Sports Friday afternoon.
After redshirting for the 2019 season, Jones appeared in five games for the Nittany Lions during the 2020 campaign. The Lake City, Florida native played in the Purdue game in 2019, but has yet to record a catch as a Nittany Lion.
Jones committed to James Franklin’s program in February 2019 as a three-star prospect. He and fellow Florida native John Dunmore were the only wideouts in the class. Dunmore, who was considered a second-string wide receiver behind Jones on a spring 2019 depth chart, entered the transfer portal back in October.
While Jones was listed as a starter back in the spring, he lost time this past season to rising freshman stars Parker Washington and KeAndre Lambert-Smith. Daniel George and Cam Sullivan-Brown were also factored in to the offense, along with Jahan Dotson of course.
Jones was a highly recruited player coming out of high school, as he received a total of 38 offers. Along with the Nittany Lions, the Florida wideout had looks from Miami, Michigan State, and Oregon. He joins a long list of Nittany Lions who have entered the portal of late, including CJ Thorpe, Antonio Shelton, and Joseph Bruno, among others.
