Comedian Cody Ko, Rapper Swae Lee Headline SPA Day 2021

Penn State’s Student Programming Association (SPA) will host rapper Swae Lee and comedian Cody Ko on Friday, January 29, as part of its star-studded “SPA Day” celebration.

Ko will host a virtual Q&A at 5 p.m. that night, while Swae Lee will perform at 8:30 p.m. Additionally, Broadway actor and jazz musician Leslie Odom Jr will host a virtual lecture at 7 p.m. as part of this year’s SPA Day festivities.

Cody Ko is best known for his expansive YouTube channel, which has amassed more than 5 million subscribers. Once deemed by Forbes as “The Most Interesting Man In The World,” he represents one half of the Tiny Meet Gang duo alongside Noel Miller. Together, they’ve produced weekly podcasts, recorded two EPs, and garnered more than 1.5 million Spotify monthly listeners.

Swae Lee, meanwhile, is best known for being one half of the hip hop duo, Rae Sremmurd, whose song “Black Beatles” garnered recognition for being the iconic track behind the viral Mannequin Challenge. He’s also known for lending his vocals to French Montana’s “Unforgettable” and Post Malone’s hit song, “Sunflower.”

Singer-songwriter Sasha Sloan will kick off the virtual concert ahead of Swae Lee. Sloan’s music career blew up with her viral hits, “Runaway” and “Normal,” which both hit 20 million streams on Spotify. In 2018, she released her second EP, “Loser,” with RCA Records.

SPA is collaborating with WPSU Radio to provide streams for both events. You can submit questions for Cody Ko’s Q&A through this link and register for Swae Lee and Sasha Sloan’s concert here.

Like every SPA event, the events are free for Penn State students and funded by their student-initiated fee. Students need to verify through their WebAccess ID before entering the virtual event.
