Penn State Hoops Adds Trip To Nebraska To Schedule

Penn State men’s basketball (7-10, 4-9 Big Ten) now has a chance for revenge against Nebraska (5-13, 1-10 Big Ten).

The Nittany Lions announced Wednesday they’ve added a road contest against the Cornhuskers to the schedule. The game will be played at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln next Tuesday, February 23 and be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. Tipoff time has yet to be announced.

Jim Ferry’s group handed Nebraska its first Big Ten victory in heartbreaking fashion Sunday. The Nittany Lions gained the lead in the game’s final seconds, but a Nebraska layup to close things out was enough for a 62-61 Cornhuskers’ victory.

Penn State had multiple games cancelled earlier this season due to COVID-19 concerns. In fact, the Nittany Lions were forced to take a 17-day break due to multiple positive tests within the program, and postponed games against Wisconsin and Ohio State.

An extra game on the schedule could help the Nittany Lions work their way back into NCAA Tournament chatter, but many analysts saw Sunday’s loss as the end of the road for any shot at the Big Dance.

Along with the added contest against Nebraska, Penn State has some tough challenges ahead. The Nittany Lions welcome No. 4 Ohio State at 8 p.m. Thursday at the BJC, and will travel to Iowa City Sunday to take on Luka Garza and No. 11 Iowa.
