Women’s History Month is upon us, and Penn State is hosting events across campuses to celebrate and honor women throughout the month.

Confronting White Feminism with Unladylike Media

7 p.m. Monday, March 1 | Livestreamed by WPSU

Cristen Conger and Caroline Ervin from Unladylike Media will discuss the connection between the feminist movement, #MeToo, and the Abolition Movement. They’ll also host a discussion on how white womanhood has pushed against racial equity. You can find more details and register for tickets here.

WHM March 2021: Create a ‘Zine

4 p.m. March 3 through 30 | via Zoom

The Finance & Business Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s Women’s History Month subcommittee is hosting two Zoom sessions to create a collaborative zine about Women’s Suffrage. You can find more information and register here.

Reach New Heights Through Careers in Aviation: A Networking Opportunity for Women in Engineering and IST

If you’re interested in aviation as a career, this is your chance to learn about the careers available in this field and network with the Professional Association of Women Controllers.

Women’s History Month Cooking Event

7 p.m. Monday, March 15 | via Zoom

In this interactive, virtual cooking show, HealthWorks peer educators will lead with step-by-step instructions so you can cook and follow along in real-time. Or, you can sit back, relax, and learn about famous women chefs. This event can be accessed here.

A Conversation with Claire Smith

7 p.m. Monday, March 15 | via Zoom

Claire Smith is the first woman to earn the J.G. Taylor Spink Award, the highest honor given by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. She will be the featured guest during an event co-sponsored by the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, and the Penn State chapter of the Association for Women in Sports Media. ‘Moxie’ Film Screening

6 p.m. Monday, March 15 | via Zoom

Join the Gender Equity Center in partnership with Penn State Libraries and Hillel for a film screening and discussion of Netflix’s “Moxie.” You can register here.

Mikki Kendall: Black Feminism

6 p.m. Thursday, March 18 | via Zoom

Join the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity and the Gender Equity Center in a guided conversation with the author of “Hood Feminisim,” Mikki Kendall, on Black feminism. The conversation will discuss the ways queer and trans Black women are pushed out of feminism, and the importance of language used to describe historical leaders. This event can be accessed here.

Join the Gender Equity Center and Residence Life for a Women’s History Month-themed Jeopardy! game. You can compete for fun prizes from the Penn State Gender Equity Center.

Red Lip Theology: Candice Benbow

7 p.m. Monday, March 22

In 2015, Candice Benbow created Red Lip Theology in order to encourage women to embrace themselves as good creations. Through Red Lip Theology, she combines theological ideals with beauty to celebrate the creativity and spirituality of Black women. You can find more information and tickets here.

‘Moxie’ Zine Workshop

6 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 | via Zoom

Now that you’ve seen the movie, it’s time to make your own zine! Join Danica White and Sara Rincon Jimenez from the University Libraries and learn how to create a zine. Pre-registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link and to have materials mailed to you. Participants must register by March 15. You can register here.
