Lamar Stevens Posts First Double-Double Of Professional Career
Former Penn State men’s basketball star Lamar Stevens earned the first double-double of his NBA career Friday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers forward scored 15 points and brought in 11 rebounds off the bench. It wasn’t enough for the Cavs to win, however, as they fell to the San Antonio Spurs 116-110.
Stevens was the leading scorer coming off the bench, and even outscored two starters. He also tied with starter Jarrett Allen for the team-lead in rebounds on the night.
There were plenty of highlights for Stevens in this game, including this authoritative slam dunk.
This was the clearly the best performance of Stevens’ NBA career so far, as he averages only 4.4 points per game and 2.7 rebounds. However, the Philadelphia native has been getting solid playing time throughout the season. He’s currently averaging around 13 minutes per game.
Stevens went unselected in the 2020 NBA Draft, but he joined The Association by signing a two-way deal with Cleveland in November. That doesn’t always lead to success at the professional level, but the Nittany Lion is clearly making the most of his time in the NBA.
This was Stevens’ third double-digit scoring night of the 27 games he’s played in his rookie season. He’ll try to ride off of this high when the Cavaliers take on the Raptors on Sunday.
