Penn State Football Opens April 23 Beaver Stadium Practice To General Public

Penn State football will welcome “a very limited number” of general fans to Beaver Stadium this week to catch its final spring practice, according to an announcement posted by the team Wednesday night.

Free tickets are both required and available online on a first-come, first-serve basis (Editor’s note: They’re definitely gone already). Free parking passes are also available, according to the online ticket reservation page.

Walk-up tickets won’t be available for the event. Those who do reserve tickets will need to use mobile ticketing to gain entrance on April 23.

Just like last week’s in-person practice event, fans will be seated in groups of three scattered across the stadium. Face masks and social distancing are required at all times.

Friday night’s practice is set to begin at 7 p.m., according to the team. Beaver Stadium’s gates will open at 5:45 p.m.

Tailgating lots will remain closed to prevent congregations of fans. Police will be on site throughout the night to enforce tailgating restrictions, according to the event’s original announcement.

Originally, Penn State’s April 23 practice was to be limited to seniors only. The university originally restricted ticket eligibility to seniors taking at least one in-person class this semester but opened it to all soon-to-be-graduates following expected backlash.

A Penn State Athletics spokesperson said the department opened select and limited tickets to general fans based on capacity following seniors’ ticket registration Wednesday.
