Report: Penn State Hoops’ Abdou Tsimbila Enters Transfer Portal
Penn State men’s basketball forward Abdou Tsimbila has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a tweet from Verbal Commits Friday morning.
Tsimbila, a former three-star recruit, will reportedly try his luck in the portal after just one year with the Nittany Lions.
The Cameroon native committed to Penn State back in 2018 and was expected to be a member of the Nittany Lions’ 2019 recruiting class. However, he attended Harcum College during the 2019-20 academic year and didn’t participate in collegiate athletics.
His first year in Happy Valley came this past season under then-interim head coach Jim Ferry. Tsimbila appeared in 16 games and saw limited action throughout the season. He averaged 4.6 minutes, 1.1 points, and 1.6 rebounds per game.
Tsimbila’s reported entry into the portal is just the latest piece of roster turnover the team has experienced so far this offseason. Five players, including Jamari Wheeler and Myreon Jones, have already transferred away from the program since the end of last season. Additionally, Penn State has welcomed two new players — Jaheam Cornwall and Jalen Pickett — through the transfer portal already.
