Three-Star Receiver Tyler Johnson Commits To Penn State Football

Penn State football’s Class of 2022 got stronger Monday afternoon when the Nittany Lions earned a commitment from three-star wide receiver Tyler Johnson.

Johnson, a Virginia native, visited Penn State just this weekend. He’s the first prospect to commit to the Nittany Lions since traditional recruiting and visits opened back up earlier in June.

“Coming from where I’m from, this is truly a blessing,” Johnson wrote on Twitter. “Not many people from my area get the chance to play football at the next level. I thank everybody in the city for your support. I’ll always rep the 276!”

Johnson committed to Penn State over Maryland, Purdue, and Coastal Carolina, among others. He’s ranked the No. 95 Class of 2022 wide receiver prospect and the 21st-best in Virginia.

List at an even 6′ and 175 pounds, Johnson will join a number of talented receivers in Penn State’s 2022 recruiting class, including Kaden Saunders and Mehki Flowers. The Nittany Lions’ Class of 2022 currently ranks No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 7 nationally, according to 247Sports.
