Three-Star Offensive Tackle JB Nelson Commits To Penn State Football

The Lackawanna College pipeline is still red-hot for James Franklin and the Penn State football coaching staff.

Three-star offensive tackle JB Nelson announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions’ class of 2022 via Twitter Friday afternoon.

Nelson, a Pittsburgh native, gained attention from other top-tier programs such as West Virginia, Maryland, and Ole Miss, among others. He graduated from Lackawanna College this past December, and now becomes the third player in Penn State’s class of 2022 to come from the junior college, alongside safety Tyrece Mills and linebacker Zymir Cobbs.

The Nittany Lions have already grabbed several stars from Lackawanna in past classes, including safeties Jaquan Brisker and Ji’Ayir Brown. Offensive lineman Anthony Whigan and wide receiver Norval Black also played at the junior college before they made it to Happy Valley.

Nelson stands at 6’6″, 310 pounds and is ranked as the No. 2 junior college prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports. He’s the third offensive lineman to commit to this class of Nittany Lions, following Drew Shelton and Maleek McNeil.

The big fella now kicks off what could be a big Fourth of July Weekend for Penn State, as several prospects have their commitments scheduled over the course of the next few days.
