Penn State Men’s Hockey Adds Goaltender Doug Dorr

Penn State men’s hockey has added more depth at goaltender with the addition of Doug Dorr, the team announced Monday.

The Pittsburgh native played last during the 2019-20 season with the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms alongside freshman forward Ben Schoen. Despite playing in only one game for the Phantoms, Dorr started 18 games in his 2018-19 season for the NAHL’s Topeka Pilots while posting a goals-against average of 3.14, a save percentage of .919, and two shutouts.

Dorr joins an already-talented goaltender room for the Nittany Lions. Senior Oskar Autio will presumably be the lead goaltender with sophomore Liam Souliere serving as the backup for the second consecutive year. The addition of Dorr provides more depth for head coach Guy Gadowsy heading into the upcoming season.

The Nittany Lions have yet to release their full 2021-22 schedule. Penn State’s only confirmed games are its matchup with North Dakota in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame game in Nashville and a home series against Maine on New Year’s Eve & Day.
