It’s no secret that Penn State is a nationally known and esteemed university. So, it’s rather fitting that Penn State was once again recognized as of of the top public universities around the country in a list published by Niche.

The website publishes a yearly list of the top universities according to a number of factors, including academics, student life, partying, and Greek life. Penn State faired well this year and earned an A+ on its overall score, in addition to being named the 20th best public university in the country.

Penn State was topped by five other Big Ten schools, with Michigan at No. 2, Wisconsin at No. 12, Illinois at No. 14, and Purdue at No. 16. But Penn State ranked higher in specific categories, coming in at No. 9 for student life, No. 11 for partying, and No. 7 for Greek life. Penn State also checked in at No. 32 for best campus this year.

Compared to Penn State’s rivals, Ohio State University ranked No. 22 in best overall, and the University of Pittsburgh came in at No. 30.

Two of Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses, Penn State Scranton and Penn State Lehigh Valley, were both ranked highly in the campus safety category.

Penn State didn’t rank highly in everything, however. According to Niche’s list, Penn State checked in at No. 113 for best academics and No. 598 for the best dorms around the country.
