New Corner Room Renovations Modernize A Longtime Downtown Staple
There simply isn’t much more classic than State College’s beloved Corner Room.
Over the summer, the longtime downtown favorite received a handful of “much-needed” upgrades to revamp its interior and spice things up a bit. Luckily, the newly refurbished Corner Room offers the classic feel you remember wrapped up in a sleek new package.
To get a feel for the new digs, take a look through our lens.
From the outside, you can probably tell the Corner Room received some much-needed touch-ups to its facade. A classic design with a new coat of paint certainly works wonders.
While we’re at it, need any new Corner Room merch? From enamel pins to mugs, they’ve got it all these days.
Inside, new booths and remodeled flooring greet guests.
New lighting fixtures keep things inside feeling a little intimate. They still look pretty classic, though.
Perhaps the biggest addition of all is the return of the Corner Room’s breakfast bar. It originated back in the 1930s, and Hotel State College owner Curtis Shulman felt it was finally time to bring it back to prominence.
“There were a couple over the last century. We chose to bring back the original,” Shulman told StateCollege.com this summer. “We’re going to bring that breakfast counter back to kind of pay homage to the past.”
While you’re waiting for your table (or seat at the counter), feel free to check out this wall of vintage Corner Room fliers, advertisements, and photographs.
Want to check out the renovations yourself? Head on over from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. According to its Instagram page, the Corner Room will even reopen for breakfast soon.
