Penn State Women’s Hockey’s Tessa Janecke Named AHCA First Team All-American

Penn State women’s hockey forward Tessa Janecke was named a CCM/ AHCA First Team All-American. She becomes the Nittany Lion in program history to receive the honor.

The CCM/AHCA All-American teams were announced following the conclusion of the 2026 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award ceremony at Alumni Hall at the HUB-Robeson Center. The senior was the program’s first Top-Three Finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. Prior to this year, Janecke earned Second Team All-American honors the previous two years.

Janecke is the all-time leading scorer across Penn State men’s and women’s teams with 201 points on 89 goals and 112 assists. With Janecke’s power play goal to open the first period of the NCAA women’s Frozen Four, she hit 200 points, and she later scored again to send the Nittany Lions into overtime, bringing her total to 201.

The captain helped lead the Nittany Lions against undefeated No. 6 UConn to send the team to the final four. The Nittany Lions hosted a regional for the first time in program history after capturing their fourth consecutive AHA Tournament Championship.

Janecke earned a gold medal with Team USA earlier this season at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, becoming the first gold medalist to take home gold in the Winter Olympics in the history of Penn State Athletics.
