Downtown Food Truck Event To Benefit Housing Transitions September 12

Housing Transitions will host its fourth annual food truck rally from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 12. The event, “Rally in the Valley,” will be lined with food trucks between Beaver Ave. and Foster Ave. in downtown State College.

Housing Transitions is a local nonprofit organization that offers housing case management, permanent supportive housing programs, development programs, rent-reduced apartments for incomed-qualified households, and more. All proceeds will benefit the Centre House Shelter Program, its 24/7 emergency shelter which provides short-term housing, showers, and food for clients 18 and older.

Participating food trucks include Bonnie Blue’s, Classic Cones, Taco Inc, Happy Valley Chef, On The Go Backing Co., Savory Station, Taproot Kitchen, Just Nutz, Pappy Popcorn, and Sunset Slush. All of the trucks in attendance will donate 15% of their proceeds to the Centre House program.

“We’re looking forward to bringing the community together, after a long hiatus, to enjoy each other’s company and raise money for an important cause,” Housing Transitions wrote on Facebook.

Acoustic rock duo Hops and Vines will perform at the event between 1 and 3 p.m. in front of the Municipal Building. Additionally, the event will have games and activities including cornhole, ladder ball, a bounce house, and a raffle.

Entrance into Rally in the Valley is free, and all ages are welcome. Last year, Rally in the Valley was canceled due to the pandemic.
