Podward State: Season 5, Episode 4 Ft. Pat Chambers

On this week’s episode of Podward State, hosts Samuel Brungo and Grace Cunningham are joined by former Penn State men’s basketball coach Pat Chambers.

Throughout the program, Chambers discusses his life growing up near Philadelphia as a Penn State fan. He also talks about a near-death experience toward the beginning of his career that changed his life.

Chambers recalls learning from Joe Paterno and what it was like as a Penn State leader after Paterno was fired. He talks about the ups and downs of his tenure, including a large-scale rebuild that came with immense scrutiny and an NCAA Tournament run cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finally, Pat talks about his legacy, community service, and how much changed in his time at Penn State.

To wrap up the show, Brungo is joined once again by associate producer Will Pegler to recap Penn State football’s White Out win over Auburn and preview this Saturday’s game against Villanova.

Podward State is an Onward State-produced podcast that releases weekly episodes on Spotify and YouTube. Each will feature discussions about all things Penn State, including sports, news, student life, entertainment, and more.
