Penn State’s David Taylor Takes Silver At World Wrestling Championship

Penn State wrestling legend David Taylor fell just short of winning another world title over the weekend.

Wrestling for the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, Taylor took silver at the World Wrestling Championship in Oslo, Norway, on Sunday. He fell to Iran’s Hassan Yazdani 6-2 in the 86 kg finals.

Taylor and Yazdani previously faced off just a few months ago at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. There, Taylor used a miraculous last-minute takedown to seal a 4-3 win and claim gold for the U.S.

Taylor won a world title in 2018 with a win over none other than Yazdani, sparking a rivalry that still persists today.

In addition to his one world title and Olympic gold medal, Taylor is a three-time U.S. national champion, two-time NCAA title-winner, and two-time Hodge Trophy winner.

Taylor graduated from Penn State in 2014. Since then, he moved to State College and now owns K2 Roots, a small business focused on cold-pressed juices. The shop recently opened on Fraser Street to the delight of our staff.
