Penn State Arboretum To Host Annual Pumpkin Festival October 15 & 16

The Arboretum’s annual Pumpkin Festival is returning this weekend following a two-year hiatus.

A pumpkin-carving contest and lighted jack-o’-lantern display highlight the event’s festivities on October 15 and 16. Visitors are invited to explore the Arboretum’s gardens and Overlook Pavillion to check out autumn-themed planters and entries into this year’s jack-o’-lantern competition.

A judging panel of campus and community leaders will award ribbons for the best jack-o’-lanterns in a few different categories, including best-in-show, best pop culture theme, and best Penn State theme. Ribbons can get picked up from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, October 17.

On both nights, jack-o’-lanterns will be displayed until 9 p.m. From 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, guests can enjoy family-friendly activities like a magician and strolling musicians. Food vendors will also be on-site.

Three-piece Celtic music group Lilting Banshee will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday. October 15. Western Range will provide some “toe-tapping Texas swing” the next day from 5 to 8 p.m., too.

Check out this release for more information on this year’s festival.
